Greetings Loved Ones:)
It's that time of the year again...just 3 weeks until my sanity is momentarily recaptured! I'm writing to invite you to my middle high spring show...
The title? Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. The setting? New York City in the ROARING 20s...a platinum version of the Emerald City (or so the stage directions indicate...ours will be more like styrofoam but you'll get the idea...hopefully!) It promises to be an evening of madcap merriment as "Millie", played by the soon-to-be-well-known 8th grader, Julia McClure, moves from Kansas to Manhattan to marry her boss. Who is he? She doesn't know yet but the "modern woman" marries for $$$ not love! Pshaw!
Anyway, seeing 7th and 8th graders tackle live portrayals of a mugging, a speakeasy raid, the modernization of women, Chinese immigration, white slavery, not to mention a few awkward stage kisses...what's NOT entertaining about that? Eh? Yeah, there's some lofty themes in this one:) It's a really fun show with fantastic music and LOTS of choreography. The cast is made up of some of my favorite students to date who have enough heart and attitude to make up for any ability they may lack--and they've got a good amount of that too!
My point? Let me know if and most importantly when you'd like to attend so that I may set aside tickets before the cast parents hog them all. Also, Karma has been known to put together some delish fare for pre or post (or both) show noshing that anyone and everyone is invited to partake of. In your reply let me know if and when you'd like to get in on that and it'll give her an idea of how to plan.
Here are the particulars:
