I'm starting off this much anticipated Thanksgiving break with a fall artwork post.
First...
"Thanksgiving Card": Tempera hand print, Sharpie, crayon and photograph on paper.
"Thank you God for my family": Tempera and sponge on paper"Sights of Fall": Stencil and paint on paper
"Molly's Pumpkin": freestyle paint on printed paper
"Brown Squirrel": freestyle paint on printed paper
"Genesis 2:19": diecut and fun foam shapes on paper
"Molly's Pumpkin Patch": fingerprints on crayon vine (a personal favorite)
"One-eyed Hospital Hand Turkey": Feathers and googly eye on paper
Turkey Headband: Construction paper on brown paper bag
Molly's lastest artwork scanned? Check. She brings home such wonderful things from preschool so I've come up with this way of sharing and saving it that I HOPE I will be able to continue consistently. And by consistently I mean not just through her but for numbers 2 and 3 if they should ever come. (I now totally get how subsequent children are left out of the loop...my apologies ahead of time to the next Lucas children.) Anyway, I scan the artwork, be it 2 or 3 dimensional, or I take a picture of it. Then I save the scans in folders on the computer and start a shutterfly book of "2009-2010 Artwork" or whatever. I then get rid of the hardcopies by giving them away as cards with gifts or using them as wrapping paper for loved ones, etc. That way, I don't feel like I'm "throwing away" her sweet little creations, rather...sharing the love. Plus, I'll have a book of all the memories to keep for years to come that will take up a hundredth of the space a big box would (I already have enough to almost fill a big box and she's 15 MONTHS OLD...which I LOVE by the way, it's just I have to be active in overcoming the clutter to make room for future masterpieces). Therefore, one paper box will keep one hundred years of art work. Create on, my love.
I'll leave you with an at-home finger painting from yesterday (children's hospital gowns make excellent smocks by the way...more than a couple have made it home with us in one way or another). It's destined for wrapping paper...or framing:

I'd say framing. That last one is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI mean, they're all sweet, but the last one is really awesome.
