A Walk to Remember

Molly walked today!  One week away from being 21 months old and she's finally done it:)  I wouldn't say she's walking, as in it's her choice mode of transport from point A to point B, BUT she did walk.  In groups of 2, 3, 4, up to 7 steps consecutively!  It's a big day and one that's been a long time coming (I refer you back here if you've forgotten why;)  We didn't get one picture or video of the occasion but I can tell you from an eyewitness perspective that it was thoroughly adorable as expected.

As of Saturday there was a new addition to the playroom.  Enter: slide.
Molly went to play at her friend Ally's house last week and had a mighty good time on the slide in Ally's playroom.  This brought to mind Ryan's mention of a certain slide we inherited in the attic of our new house.  Ryan got it down on Saturday, hosed and scrubbed it down, and when Molly woke up from her nap that afternoon it was waiting for her.  She was absolutely delighted and proceeded to jump right on, climb to the top and slide down on her belly over and over again.  It's now the go-to activity whenever we walk in the door or wake from a nap.  She narrates her steps and talks to herself (or sings) as she's sliding which is wildly entertaining (for us anyway).

Here she is standing up "all by self":
"Are you seriously still taking my picture?!"  She's gonna make a great teenager/two-year-old with these sassy faces:
Gained a slide, lost a beard:
Molly says "daddy's beard is all gone" and then demands that he slide as she runs for cover in my lap:

Here's a video of the action.  You'll notice that she only slides down on her belly right now which works out since the bottom part is made to be buried in the ground.  She'll slide down on her bottom if you hold her hand.  She also had just learned to use the ladder in this video.  It's looong.  Probably painfully so if you're not related.  My favorite part is when she stops at the top of the slide to tell Ryan she loves him.

And while we're sharing videos, here's one Ryan caught with my phone yesterday morning while we were getting ready for school.  He went to check on her and she had her Bible open singing "the Bible tells me so, yes, Jesus loves me..." and of course by the time he started recording she had almost stopped.  You'll see her flip through the rest of the pages and then she says "the end" before she closes it.  Then she discovers she's being watched:)

This child is truly amazing.  I need some kind of video recording laser that shoots from my eyes to help keep record of her amazingness.  Everytime she does something I think, I need to get the camera but I don't want to miss out on the moment so I don't. Eh...blah blah blah.  Anyway, her song repertoire is ever-expanding and her pitch is remarkable at times.  (I know I'm totally bragging, but hey, it's my blog) Her favorite as of late is a parody of Beyonce's Single Ladies I made up to help with the application of diaper ointment a while back.  My version?  All the stinky babies, all the stinky babies...etc.  Put your hands up....oh, oh, oh etc.  If you like it then you'd better put some cream on it...etc.  She loves it and and does all the hand flipping  from the video.  I actually played the real version the other day to see if she'd recognize it...she did and danced hard!  And now she knows those words too.  Her other obsession right now is shape sorting which she's actually always had a thing for.  But now her favorites are the hexagon and the pentagon--though she gets them mixed up all the time.  Go figure.  Ryan asked her today what shape the semicircle was and she said "watermelon".

Anyway, it's much too late and I must go.  Thanks for reading and watching.  I'm hoping to do a house post soon!

  1. I have been sooo behind on my blog reading (and writing)! Yay for Molly! Can't wait to see her in action! By the way, the slide video provided me and Tim with some cute dinner entertainment. :)
