The cast change, ahem, sorry...cast REMOVAL is officially ONE WEEK AWAY! To say that I'm elated is a bit of an understatement. I just read a couple of posts on the hipbaby forum from mom's who've said that cast off day was the opposite of what they expected and was more scary and uncomfortable for their children than the freeing and happy. One mom said that her daughter couldn't get comfortable and has just cried non-stop for 2 days. Molly did really well with the saw last time and seemed to be just fine for those 30 minutes she was actually out of the cast so we have high hopes for the cast off day to live up to our expectations.
We've had consistent 80 degree temperatures here in Georgia for pretty much the entirety of October. Although these conditions are certainly not my preference for my favorite time of year, I've been thankful for them every day this year! Molly has a limited wardrobe that works with her cast and I was dreading having to find something to cover those exposed little thighs on cold, crisp fall days. No worries though...she's been in her summer cast wardrobe the whole time! Also, because of her dragging her belly across the floor there's a lot of wear, tear and dirt going on the tummy area of EVERY outfit. I've been able to recue her warmer clothes from this fate and they'll look great now on my cast free baby:). We went with halloween colors today since I have these two orange and black bows. I put the headband on and she immediately took it off, picked up her brush and started brushing her hair.
So we tried again.
I went to the podiatrist yesterday for my foot and found out that it was NOT gout like the orthopaedist told me back in August. I thought the gout diagnosis was a little off but it sure is painful like I've read that gout is so I just trusted that he knew what he was talking about (even though he didn't do the first test to actually find out for real). Instead Dr. Lewis thinks that I have a soft tissue mass in my foot that's causing the incredible pain and constant swelling. He ordered an MRI to tell him what's really going on and that won't be til next week. I'm glad that the ball is actually rolling now to figure this all out. I can basically only stand to wear flip flops with the pain...another reason I'm thankful for the summer weather at the end of October. God provides, does He not?
