So to recap...old color-nice but boring:
NEW color!:
The two weird deck post thingys are odd and feel completely out of place to me. I asked Ryan if he thought they were load bearing. He said "probably not but then we'll have two square shaped holes in the carpet". That didn't convince me so then he said "they'll make a really good place for hanging birthday banners through the years". The man knows just what to say to sway my heart;)! He pays attention.
The pictures are dark and bad (because I don't know how to take them), but in person it's a light, airy, playful feel. The kind of feel you want for a playroom. And since the windows are, and forever will be, that beige-y taupe-y brown color, I think this color complements that too. I just love this color, well maybe I just like the name--"vintage kitchen"--isn't that a great name?! You may remember it from our old house as the bathroom color (before we redid the bathroom that is):
In fact, that's why I chose it. Because we had almost a full gallon left from that project over five years ago and I need to keep myself busy with projects that don't cost money when at all possible! And I used every. last. drop. on the playroom. Molly enjoyed helping there at the end (sorry, cell phone pic):
So, there you have it! Some progress! Now I just need to deal with the mound of toys in the center of the room...I can't wait to put some of my ideas to work! But for now I must get back to doing the school accreditation work (I took a break to write this) I've vowed to finish today! Molly's with Karma while I work today. Here she is from this morning trying on her new bathing suit to wear at the pool with Aunt Karma:
Can I just say that the past two days at home with her have been the best two days of this year?! She is a pure delight to be around and though I know this summer will fly, I sure am glad we're just on day 3:) Okay back to work for me. I'll leave you with paint project numero dos. It's a biggie! And it's to be started ASAP:
It's the family room and it's DARK! I don't have a good picture of it because there is NO light in the room. You can see it joins to the playroom. And I'm painting it. All of it. Don't give me lip about painting over wood--it's not the cheapo stuff but it's not the nice paneling either. I've weighed my options and paint is the (hard) way to go. I can't wait!!!

It looks great! Glad you decided on the "vintage kitchen". ;) I don't envy you painting that living room, but I know it'll be beautiful and stylish in all of its Ashleigh-and-Ryan-ness!
ReplyDeleteLove the color, Ashleigh, and can't wait for your touch to the rest of your house--looks like beautiful "bones" -- LOVE the built-ins, and am a big fan of painted paneling and anything that lightens or brightens.
ReplyDeleteI like the color! I guess I have a soft spot for that color...it's the color of the (1955) tile in my bathroom. Along with my pink sink, toilet and bathtub, it is definitely something I've learned to love. I can't bear to paint over it. :) I love projects like this...have fun!!
ReplyDeleteThank you all! I love you and am imagining what fun the painting process would be if the three of you were there with me:) I think Heather, Aunt Syl and Jess=a blast!
