Happy Birthday, Baby!

So, this is it.  Today is the day where I stop referring to my baby's age in months.  Except, there are clothing sizes that go up to 36 months, I think.  That settles it.  She's 24 months old today;)*Update: I drafted this on the 1st but I'm just now publishing it.

We woke her up with a chorus of "Happy Birthday" and Ryan made her eggs for breakfast complete with a birthday candle.  We let her open two things this morning--some colorwonder markers and paper (which she promptly used to proudly create a marker masterpiece) and a new baby doll that she was smitten with right away.  She spent the rest of our morning at home feeding and burping her new baby (this morning the baby's name was Molly Harper Lucas but that may change).*Update: it did.  The name is now Baby Dear.

We were late getting to school and she was welcomed by another chorus of "Happy Birthday" courtesty of some middle schoolers and their teachers.  She greeted everyone with "Good morning.  It's my birthday!"  I had a break in my day long enough to accompany M's birthday snack to her preschool room.  They were darling, all sitting there with their hands freshly washed, absolutely quiet just looking at me.  I passed out a non-sugar laden snack first and they started eating right away.  But when they saw the plate of m&m cookies I felt ten pairs of eyes widen and follow me around the room.

Molly donning her birthday crown:

"Yeah, I got a cookie...jealous?":

Molly sitting like a big 2 year old with one of her classmates:

We asked Molly what she'd like for supper and she said "Waffle House".  So that's where we went.  We practically had the whole place to ourselves and the guy who waited on us made our meal very special.  He sang "happy birthday" to her and outfitted her in a WH hat too.  She had a blast and got her fill of grits, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and waffle. Whoa.

We ended the night with some more present opening and a skype session with G-ma and G-daddy.  Molly had a grand day and is now fond of declaring her new age.  She's also thoroughly stoked about her upcoming party on Saturday--her requests were strawberry ice cream and birthday cake.  I think we can do that.
What a cool kid.  I can't believe I get to be her mom:)  Happy Birthday, Baby!
