Molly Harper Looooocas (as she says it!) is 22 months today! Two months left until the day when age starts being measured in years:(!
We celebrated this wonderful day by confirming that Molly has a UTI (boo!). She felt hot last night so we took her temp and indeed, it was 102. Her last few since surgery in January haven't come with fevers so I thought perhaps it wasn't a UTI but maybe something she'd picked up at VBS instead since we've been there all week. Nope...UTI all the way. She was a sport at the doctor's office. I don't know how they treat families who come in once a year, but boy they treat us like royalty at East Cobb Peds. Everyone knows Molly by name and if they hear she's there they'll come by the room and say hello. Jenny does all the caths (best in Atlanta I tell ya!) and she gave M a popsicle this morning for her bravery. Ugh, I usually don't wish away milestones but I can't wait til she can pee in a cup! Anyway, unfortunate end to an otherwise wonderful week serving God at Eastside.
A look at our growing girl:Waiting for Daddy:
Here, at 22 months, Molly's rather small for her age. She's in the 10th percentile for height and the 20th for weight though I will say that it seems she's been growing a lot since she started walking. It seems every day I'm putting aside another outfit she's outgrown. Her hair is long enough for pigtails and ponytails and she loves having them! She's my favorite way to spend my time and carries on full conversations with me now. She's very observant--whenever I go to get her from a nap she'll state whatever happens to be different from when she saw me before, like "mommy, you took a shower?" or "mommy has a ponytail". She caught me yawning in the rear view mirror this morning and said "you tired mommy? you need a nap". On the way to the doctor she pointed to a stop sign and said "it's a hexagon!" which totally caught me off guard as we've never talked about stop signs. Then we talked about octagons and now she knows that a stop sign is an octagon...she receives and implements new information much more effectively than I do! We'll be singing a song in the car and she'll stop as soon as she sees a stop light and she'll say "it's greeeeen! Go mommy go!" or "stop mommy! it's red!" She's getting really good at using please, thank you, and "welcome" and whenever I'm in her way she says "mommy, 'cuse me, mommy, 'cuse me!" When she wakes up we open the blinds and she points out the trees and birds and bunnies in the yard (there are always bunnies in our yard) and she says "thank you, God, [for the] beau-ful day". She loves to talk about her friends and family by name, read books, watch "Elmo" and "Mario" (Ryan's convinced her that it's a TV show so he can play video games), eat fruit bars (nutri grain bars), drink water with ice, build with blocks, color, cook with me in her tower, go swimming, go to the playground, sing in the car, and take baths given by Daddy. She's now only using her pacifier at nighttime and naptime and "special times" like today's cath:(. She wakes up and says "night-night pa-ci-fi-er, night-night Robearto (her bear) and she leaves them in her crib 'til next time. Then, when she's super tired or having a melt down in the store she'll say (through her heaving and tears) "pa-ci-fi-er in my bed". And perhaps my favorite thing she does is tell me "I love you, mommy" completely unprompted and usually right when I need it (when do you not need that, right?). Good grief I love this girl!
I used to write all of this sorta stuff in list form by month in my phone...and then my phone crashed along with my lists (I still cry about it, lol). But I hear (and know from experience) that this is the kinda stuff you forget so I'm trying to make note of it in more places than one.
I love her sweet pigtails! Time goes by way too fast without a kid, I can't imagine what its going to be like with Fischer...
