The cast change is on the books...

....for a little later than I was hoping:(.  When you hear "3 more weeks" you want that appointment scheduled exactly 504 hours from the moment that phrase is uttered.  It would've been September 28th but in doctor- appointment-reality we're looking at October 7th at 1:30.  I must admit it hurt to see the countdown jump from 16 to 26 but it just gives time for some extra bone-growth action, right?!  This puts us OUT OF THE CAST around November 4th!!!!

Molly's had a rough go of it this week.  She's been fighting a UTI (first one since the two that put her in the hospital last fall) that she came down with Monday and last night, completely out of the blue, she started coughing and wheezing and whatnot.  No runny nose warning no nothing just sudden onset of coughing.  Well, last night she woke up probably 7 or 8 times and this morning I rushed over to school to set things out for a sub so I could take her in and get this figured out before the weekend starts and ERs take over regular ol' doctor care.  Turns out she has a viral infection and an ear infection too.  No fever, just a cough that makes you say "bless your heart" a whole bunch...even me.  All I can say is TGIF!  Ryan and I have been tag teaming it all week trying to get and keep Molly where she needs to be and I'm glad to have zero responsibility to pawn off for the next couple of days.  Molly's done with the whole doctor visit thing this week and we're done with the whole copay thing;)!

In more encouraging news...I heard back from Little Miss Red Cast's mom yesterday.  I'd written her to get a heads up on what the A-frame is like.  Here's a bit of what she had to say:  "The A frame cast is way easier, you will love it! No more double diapers, Molly will be able to move easier since she will be able to bend at the waist. Sophia also was in that cast for 4 weeks. The last 2 weeks she figured out how to walk. So when that cast was removed it only took her 2 days to start walking again. Also, she fit into a regular car seat and almost everything else. The only awkward thing holding her because of the bar. But everything seemed much smoother when compared to the spica. She is gonna feel bottom heavy but then you will get used to that.  The brace is cheap and flimsy! But its not bad since you will only need it for bed time. I was just glad she didnt have to wear it 24/7. It took Sophia a few days to get used to it. But, I made up silly songs and tried to make it fun. The only time she didn't want to put the brace on was because she knew it was bedtime and didnt want to go to bed."

Ummm...can I just say kuddos to all moms who raised children before internet access?!?!?!  Don't know what I'd do without Sandra (Sophia's mom) and all the other moms who I've learned so much from!
