This past Saturday we hosted a family get-together in honor of Molly's first year. It was a "You Are My Sunshine" party because, well, that's what Molly's been through it all...a bit o' sunshine. That's also been a nickname we've had for her from before she was even born, Molly Sunshine, so it was fitting. Now, I'm all about a themed party. I don't know what it is about it but boy do I love the planning, the hunt for just the right elements, the puns to be had...I'm a sucker for it all. The first thing to come together were the invitations. I browsed through google images to find some inspiration then came up with this design and it was so easy! Trace a circle, make a few cuts with an xacto knife and voila...instant 3D sun!
The trouble with square cards of course is the need for a square envelope (oh, and 11 cents extra postage). So those had to be made as well.
We invited our neighbors from across the street. Well, we tried to hand deliver the invite and when they weren't home just put it in the mailbox. Soon after, I got a call saying "thank you for the card. Were we meant to have it?" and I thought well, yeah, that's why we gave it to you. After further conversation I realized that I hadn't glued the innards to their invitation so she just had a blank white card with Molly's sun-face on the front and no nothin' on the inside. Haha...I took over the missing salmon squares and all was well:)
So there they are. I promise there was more to it than invitations but that will come later...
