Totally Tubeless Tuesday
Well, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter by the day now! Molly and I went to see Dr. Smith this morning. She had two tubes left (the stints that went from her ureters, through the bladder wall and into her kidneys) to be removed (I think I already told you that Ryan removed her Foley catheter last Wednesday with instruction from Nurse Gerda). Dr. Smith snipped the two stitches holding the tubes in and slid them on out. They were LONG! I let out an audible "whoa!" and he said that's the normal reaction from parents. There were about 4-6 inches outside her body and at least double that inside! He said that the removal would cause a bladder spasm but so far it hasn't (and that was a good hour ago now). They also removed the bandages and tape from her incision. She's now a one-diaper girl. Perhaps she won't have such a "fat bottom" now (Sophi's words)! We'll be able to give her a real bath and she'll be able to go back to school this afternoon. She'll have an ultrasound in two weeks and then at a later date she'll have another cystogram to declare the surgery a true success. We're looking forward to my surgery in two more days and then we're just a few appointments away from declaring ourselves medically FREE! Thank you, God for healing Molly!
